Our Mission

The Cathedral District is a diverse and walkable community offering a holistic living, learning, and working experience to thousands of Tulsans each week.

Our neighborhood association is a movement of churches, businesses, and educators focused on inspiring and guiding growth and development in our area of downtown Tulsa. Everything we do is designed to equip and empower the unique identities and ongoing functions of each member organization.

Background

Once a dense collection of local businesses and amenities, the Cathedral District was heavily impacted by urban decline that affected so much of downtown Tulsa. In 2013, online voters named Downtown Tulsa one of the country’s worst collection of surface parking lots.

The area’s churches and higher learning institutions have long recognized the need to draw more residents and visitors into the Cathedral District, not only to attend worship services and classes but also to help revitalize a portion of the city with historical and cultural significance.

While the Brady Arts District, the Blue Dome District, and the Deco District have seen tremendous growth in retail, residential, and commercial use, this portion of downtown Tulsa remains open to new possibilities.
